Makers Design is a collaborative architecture and design firm based in Shreveport, Louisiana. We use our skills and knowledge in making the best solutions for each project. Makers Design has a wide variety of experience across a uniquely broad series of projects. We believe one solution does not fit every opportunity and that every opportunity is a chance to improve on what has been done before.

Why the name Makers?

When asked why the name Makers Design, we explain that it was a convergence of a series of ideas, methods, and beliefs. In developing what we wanted to be or what we wanted to do, the fundamental idea was that the practice of architecture and the design process should be about creating, making things, being innovative. Trying to do things better and taking the time to explore better options. This lead to the makers vs. mangers method of management, makers require blocks of time to invest in the best version of the project, time to develop and explore possibilities. We saw we were makers, putting time into the creative process and not resting on successful designs of the past. Ultimately coming to a defining reason why, that we believe that the world can become a better place through design. Variations of make, makers, making and made appeared regularly throughout what we wanted to do, how we wanted to do it, and what we believed we could do.
